Book Donation to Villa College by READ JAPAN PROJECT 2026

On August 24, 2026, Ambassador ISHIGAMI handed over a donation of 27 books to the Villa College Library.
The books were donated under the READ JAPAN PROJECT, administered by the Tokyo Foundation with financial support from The Nippon Foundation, to providing an accurate picture of contemporary Japan to readers all around the world.
Previously, Embassy donated books under this READ JAPAN PROJECT to the National Library of Maldives and Maldives College of Higher Education in 2010, Hiriya School in 2017, the Civil Service Training Institute in 2018, Maldives National University in 2023 and Kulhudhuffushi Public Library in 2025.
The Embassy of Japan hopes that this donation to the Villa College Library will evoke interest in Japan among the youth and students and provide them with a deeper understanding of contemporary Japan.
