Embassy of Japan in Maldives Celebrates 10th Anniversary with KENDO Demonstration

On July 4, 2026, the Embassy of Japan in Maldives celebrated its landmark 10th Anniversary with a special ceremony featuring a Kendo demonstration at Social Centre.
The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Iruthisham Adam as the Chief Guest, as well as the Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness Mr. Abdul Razak Ibrahim, and representatives from the government and diplomatic missions.
Kendo Workshop was conducted for the Maldivian Kendo practitioners from Kudo Maldives’ Kendo Team, followed by a professional Kendo Demonstration starring the event’s special guest, Ms. ARAI Mizuki. A modern Kendo legend from Japan, Ms. ARAI was the Individual Gold Medalist at the 16th and 17th World Kendo Championships, achieving back-to-back victories. She is also a two-time national champion of Japan’s most prestigious tournament, the All Japan Women’s Championships.
