Ambassador ISHIGAMI Visits Yamaki Katsuobushi Factory in Addu City

On May 19, Ambassador ISHIGAMI Rumiko visited the Yamaki Katsuobushi Factory operated by Yours Maldivian Addu Katsuobushi Pvt. Ltd. (YMAK) in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
YMAK is a local subsidiary of Yamaki Co., Ltd., a Japanese food company. The factory purchases skipjack tuna directly from local fishermen, produces katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna product similar to the Maldivian “Valhomas”), and exports its products to Japan. Ambassador ISHIGAMI received a briefing from the factory staff and observed the katsuobushi production process during the visit.
The Embassy of Japan will continue to support Japanese businesses operating in the Maldives and further strengthen economic relations between Japan and the Maldives.
