Ambassador Ishigami’s Attendance at the Ocean Governance Symposium

On February 4, Ambassador ISHIGAMI Rumiko attended the 2nd Ocean Governance Symposium held at the Maldives National University (MNU).

At the symposium, Mr. KOBAYASHI Masanori, a senior research fellow at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, delivered the keynote speech. A total of 200 participants attended the event, including Dr. Amzath Ahmed, the Maldives’ State Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources, as well as government officials and experts from the Maldives, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.  Local NGOs and Ambassadors and High Commissioners stationed in the Maldives joined the event as well, engaging in lively discussions on topics such as climate change, marine pollution, maritime security, and sustainable use of marine resources.
