Visit by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) transport aircraft in the Maldives

On 23 April 2026, a Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) transport aircraft stopped at Velana International Airport en route to Djibouti to deliver supplies to the anti-piracy task force. Ambassador Ishigami met the crew and wished them success in their mission.
