The Embassy of Japan in Maldives participated as an exhibitor at the Japan-Maldives Arts Event 2025 on September 26th.
At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Ishigami delivered congratulatory remarks on the event's launch, and cultural performances were given by Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Mr. Ali Abdul Kareem who sang in Japanese, as well as by Japanese dancers. At the cultural booth of the Embassy of Japan, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy unique experiences, such as calligraphy, where they learned how to write their own names in Japanese. They also tried wearing a Yukata (a traditional Japanese garment) and playing with Kendama (a traditional cup-and-ball game).
Moreover, Embassy provided information on Expo 2025 Osaka Kasai Japan as well as travel tips like the most interesting destinations and best times to visit Japan.
The event was hosted by the Maldives Center for Policy Research with many of the students participated in planning. With “cosplay” of Japanese anime and art competition being held, over 600 visitors came to the event and there was a long line of eager lovers of Japanese culture waiting to try Yukata or try their hands on writing their names with brush and ink.
