Ambassador of Japan to Maldives calls on Minister of Foreign Affairs

Malé, February 4, 2025 - Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives, Her Excellency Mrs. ISHIGAMI Rumiko called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.
During the call, Minister Dr. Khaleel highlighted the longstanding and strong diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Japan. The Minister expressed gratitude for Japan’s ongoing support to the Maldives, particularly through various developmental initiatives. Minister further acknowledged Japan’s significant contributions both through the official development programme of Japan, and also through the Grass Roots Project schemes that have directly benefited local communities by enhancing livelihoods, welfare, and community development.
Ambassador ISHIGAMI reaffirmed her dedication in continuing the efforts to enhance the bilateral relation between both countries in areas of mutual interest.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Japan were established on 14th November 1967.
