H.E.Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives, paid a courtesy call on H.E.DC(Retd),Lt.Col(Retd)Ibrahim Latif, National Security Advisor at the President’s Office on May 27, 2024.
 
During the courtesy call, the Ambassador thanked for accommodating the visits of Self-Defense Forces’aircrafts and ships, and explained about the new plan for "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP), and currently ongoing projects such as “Building Climate Resilient Safer Islands in the Maldives,”which protects coastal lines in Laam and Seenu Atolls.
 
Advisor Latif talked about Mr. Sakamoto Tokihiko, the very first volunteer to Maldives as a great educator, and expressed gratitude for Japan’s important and diverse support for Maldives including the construction of the sea wall on Male Island.
 
They exchanged opinions on ensuring regional safety and security, and agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations.
