Visa for Certificate of Eligibility holders (Long-term Stay)
From 17th March 2023, Japan Immigration accepts applications for digitized COE. For details, please see this.
Documentation to be submitted for Visa Application
- Please DO NOT STAPLE any documentation or photographs.
2. Visa Application form.
3. One passport-size photo on a plain background taken within 6 months of the date of application, pasted on the Application Form. (Do not staple!)
4. Certificate of Eligibility. Applicants can choose to receive their COE via Email or as a physical document hence,
- For COE physical documents, original or a copy of the original is required.
- For COE received via Email, applicants may share the Email from Immigration Services Agency of Japan at the visa counter when submitting documents by either showing the COE Email on their phone etc. or by submitting a copy of the email from Immigration Services Agency of Japan
6. A copy of re-entry Visa (eg: Work Visa, Marriage Visa, Dependent Visa) of Maldives – for expatriates.
7. A copy of Work Permit card or printout of Electronic Work Permit – for expatriates.
Note 1: * Regarding point 5 – Please be advised not to purchase the airline ticket yet, as that would not guarantee visa would be issued.
Note 2: Depending on the individual circumstances of long-term stays, additional documentation may be required. COE-holder Applicants are advised to confirm visa requirements with the Embassy first, via telephone or email (please refer to the end of this page), prior to submission of application.
Note 3: If a third party is submitting application on behalf of the applicant they will be required to submit the original or a copy of the applicant's paper COE or a printed copy of the email.
