October 13, 2022 H.E. Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives officially handed over the completed new building in MJM to the School Principal Ms. Arifa Abdul Majeed under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project at a ceremony held in MJM. Minister of State for Education, Ms. Fathimath Naseer together with officials from the Ministry of Education and the school management team joined the ceremony.
This assistance is in line with the Grant Contract signed between the Embassy of Japan in Maldives and MJM on March 18, 2015. Under the grant, 201,167 USD, approximately 3 million Maldivian Rufiyya, was donated to construct a two-storied building consisting of 7 classrooms and 1 office to cater to the increasing student population in the school.
The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation and energy in order to contribute to sustainable development of the Maldives.
