The Government of Japan handed over renovated medical ward and medical equipment to Home for People with
Special Needs in Guraidhoo Island, Kaafu Atoll

under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme
 
       Home for People with Special Needs in Guraidhoo Island Kaafu Atoll, August 18, 2022  H.E. Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives handed over the renovated medical ward and medical equipment in value of 86,961 USD to Home for People with Special Needs (HPSN) under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP) in a ceremony held in HPSN today.
 
       The Grant Contract was signed between the Embassy of Japan in Maldives and the HPSN on January 9, 2020. The project is the renovation of the medical ward and procurement of medical equipment for the emergency room to ensure quality medical service and nursing care for the patient. The new medical ward and equipment will enable HPSN to provide appropriate emergency and psychiatric treatments, thereby contributing to the protection of the people with special needs and elderly on the island and the local community as a whole.

       The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation and energy in order to contribute to sustainable development of the Maldives.
