March 29, 2022 – The President of the Republic of Maldives His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih together with the Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Her Excellency Mrs. TAKEUCHI Midori inaugurated the “Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Network Development Project” in ceremony held at the PSM studio in Television Maldives Building.
The Exchange of Notes for this project was signed between the Government of Japan and the Government of Maldives in October 27, 2016 with a financial commitment of 2.8 billion Japanese Yen, which is equivalent to 25 million United States Dollars. The objective of the project is to improve access to information by development of a digital terrestrial television broadcasting network, thereby contributing to addressing climate change impacts and disaster management as well as to resolving regional disparities on information.
