   Japan provides medical equipment worth US $ 2.8 million to strengthen health sector of the Republic of Maldives
 
   Malé, August 27, 2019 H.E. Ms. Keiko Yanai, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives handed over medical equipment to H.E. Mr. Abdulla Ameen, Minister of Health, at a ceremony held at STELCO hall today. The equipment includes 4 diagnostic ultrasound systems, 1 mobile digital x-ray system, 1 ventilator and 1 transportable incubator, 5 defibrillator, 5 dental unit, 5 dental autoclave and 5 dental x-ray film developer.
 
   The equipment is donated as part of the grant of 300 million Japanese Yen (equivalent to 2.8 million USD) committed for the health sector in the Maldives, in line with the Exchange of Notes signed by Government of Japan and Government of Maldives in June 2018, under the “The Economic and Social Development Programme’’.
 
   The Government and people of Japan hope that this grant will contribute to the development of the heath sector in the Maldives.
