Handover Ceremony

Malé, April 15, 2019 H.E. Ms. Keiko Yanai, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives, handed over vehicles and related equipment (15 police vehicles, 13 patrol cars, 4 speed boats, lifejackets, lifebuoys, loudspeakers and marine receivers) in value of 250 million Japanese Yen, which is equivalent to 34.1 million Maldivian Rufiyya, to the Commissioner of Police Mr. Mohamed Hameed, at a ceremony held at the Republic Square, Malé. The grant assistance is intended to strengthen the capacity and capability of the Maldives Police Service in counterterrorism and public security. The Government of Japan hopes the grant assistance will greatly contribute to maintaining public security in the country, thereby contributing to secure economic and social.
