Foreign Minister Kono to visit Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives
1. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is scheduled to visit the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives from January 3rd to January 7th, 2018.
2. During his one-day stay in the Maldives on January 6th, 2018, the Foreign Minister will make a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives, and hold a meeting with H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
3. It is expected that, as a follow-up on the 50th anniversary of Japan-Maldives diplomatic relations in 2017, his visit will further promote bilateral relations between Japan and the Republic of Maldives.
